I believe that the close connections Akismet has with wordpress (most of the wordpress dev's work there) can only be a good thing, and that Akismet *NEEDS* regular 'personal use' users like us to use it in order to improve their ability to catch spam for their corporate users, reducing the possibility of them charging for their personal users. I have only had one false positive so far (and it was only dobbo!) out of thousands of spam caught. It's either that or install some kind of captcha plugin.
