The Debian maintainers of Emacs refuse to include the Emacs manuals because they don&#039;t agree with the GFDL --- so I make my own definition of a free distro and use that.

In a way, RMS is playing a role he sees for himself and apparently that role includes a virtue of absolute non-compromising. That sometimes work and sometimes doesn&#039;t. Perhaps more often the latter even, but that&#039;s RMS. Freedomware may have started with him and he may have helped stay the course firm in the direction of more freedomware and less proprietary software, but he is by far not the only one successfully spreading the word about freedomware and its benefits nor is his strategy necessarily the only valid one.</description>
